Applying to jobs by iMessage and WhatsApp
Last updated
You can apply to jobs by texting Tsenta on iMessage or WhatsApp: ask for roles, tell it which one to apply to, and the application runs in the background while you keep texting. It uses the same account, résumé and application allowance as the web dashboard.
Start texting and apply
- Open tsenta.com/messaging on your phone and tap the iMessage or WhatsApp button. You send the first message.
- Send the email address you want to use. A new email creates your account. For an existing account, Tsenta emails you a 6-digit code to link this phone.
- Reply with the code.
- If your account has no résumé yet, send it as a PDF under 5 MB, or send your LinkedIn profile URL.
- Ask for roles, for example "find me product design roles in New York".
- Tell Tsenta which one to apply to, such as "apply to the second one" or "apply to the Amazon one".
- Ask about the status of your applications whenever you like.
Before Tsenta applies
Tsenta checks that your profile has been reviewed, that nothing required is missing, and that you have applications left. If something is missing, it sends you a link to fix it. If your message could mean more than one role, it asks which one you meant.
When it applies, Tsenta tells you what it is about to do: tailor your résumé, write a cover letter and fill out the form. Then it replies with a link to follow the application and how many applications you have left.
What to know
- Same allowance. Texting uses your plan's applications. Failed attempts don't count.
- It runs in the cloud. You can keep texting, or put your phone away, while applications finish.
- You start the conversation. Tsenta replies to your messages. It doesn't text you first.
- Changing optimization. Say "apply without optimization" to send your résumé as it is, or "apply with aggressive optimization" for a freer rewrite.
For the full set of settings, such as résumé review and Auto Apply, use the web dashboard or the mobile app.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the Tsenta app to apply by text?
No. You can text Tsenta on iMessage or WhatsApp without installing anything. You can create your account and send your résumé in the conversation.
Does applying by text use my applications?
Yes. Texting uses the same account and allowance as the web dashboard. Only successful submissions count, and texting has no daily application cap of its own.
Will Tsenta message me first?
No. You start each conversation, and Tsenta replies.
Can I apply to several jobs in one message?
Yes. Say "apply to all" after Tsenta lists roles, and it applies to every role in that list. If it can't tell which role you mean, it asks.
