How résumé tailoring and cover letters work (and the diff view)

Last updated

Tsenta tailors your résumé for every application from the résumé profile you choose, and writes a cover letter when the employer's form accepts or requires one. With résumé review on, each tailored résumé waits for you with the changes highlighted, so you can approve it, edit it, or send your original instead.

Choose how much Tsenta rewrites

Pick a mode under Resume optimization in Settings, Apply settings:

ModeWhat it does
OffUses the selected résumé with no AI rewriting
HonestRewords your existing experience for the role. Check the result for accuracy
AggressiveRewrites more freely and may stretch claims. Review every claim before sending

Review and edit a tailored résumé

  1. In Settings, open Apply settings and turn off Auto-approve under Resume optimization.
  2. Start an application. The tailored résumé waits for you under Needs you on your dashboard.
  3. Open the application. Changed text is highlighted, with a short summary of what changed, such as rewritten bullets and skills.
  4. Select Edit to change the text yourself, or type what you want in the chat next to the résumé, for example "Shorten my summary".
  5. Select Approve & submit to use the tailored résumé, or Use original resume to send your résumé profile without tailoring.

Make a change stick

To apply a change to future résumés, say so in that chat with words like "always" or "from now on". For example: "From now on, tailor my bullets to the job description using only what is on my résumé." Tsenta confirms it saved the preference and uses it next time.

Find saved preferences in Settings, under What Tsenta remembers, and edit or remove them there. Résumés already tailored don't change. Saved preferences apply to résumé profiles made from a PDF. If a profile uses an imported Word (DOCX) template, edit each tailored résumé at review instead.

Cover letters

Tsenta writes a cover letter for applications whose form accepts or requires one. You'll find it with the application's documents.

Use different résumés for different roles

Keep separate résumé profiles for different kinds of roles. You can create, duplicate, rename, import and delete them, set a default, and choose one when you apply. Setup takes a PDF under 10 MB. After that you can import a DOCX template, though complex formatting may not carry over exactly.

Résumé review vs form review

Résumé review is about the résumé. Review before submit is a separate setting that pauses the filled employer form for you to check, on systems that support pausing. Auto Apply has its own résumé settings. See how Tsenta applies to jobs.
