How Tsenta submits applications vs autofill extensions
Last updated
Tsenta submits job applications for you, while an autofill extension only fills fields in your browser and leaves you to finish and submit. With an autofill extension you still open each form, check every page, answer the questions it can't, and click submit. With Tsenta you choose the role, or let Auto Apply choose it, and the agent completes the rest in its cloud.
The difference, step by step
| Step | Typical autofill extension | Tsenta |
|---|---|---|
| Open the application | You | Tsenta |
| Sign in or create an employer account | You | Tsenta, using your application password |
| Fill standard fields | The extension, on the page you have open | Tsenta |
| Answer open-ended questions | Usually you, sometimes with a suggested draft | Tsenta drafts them from your profile |
| Tailor the résumé and cover letter | Varies by tool | Included on every plan, with optional review |
| Upload documents | Often you | Tsenta |
| Submit | You | Tsenta |
| Track the reply | A separate tracker or spreadsheet | Your Tsenta tracker and inbox |
Autofill tools differ, so check what a specific one does. The pattern above is the usual split: the extension fills, you finish.
Why "submits" matters
Filling in your name, email and work history is usually the quick part of an application. The slow parts are multi-page forms, account creation, open-ended questions and uploads, and those are what an autofill extension usually hands back to you. Tsenta does them, so each application you choose ends as a submitted application instead of a tab you still have to finish.
It also means you don't need to be there. Tsenta runs applications in its cloud, so you can close your laptop while they finish. See does Tsenta keep applying when the app is closed?
Where an autofill extension is the better fit
Be honest with yourself about how you search:
- You want hands-on control of every field. An extension lets you see and edit each answer as it goes in. Tsenta's review controls come close, but you review at set points rather than field by field.
- Your roles are on sites Tsenta can't submit on. An extension works on whatever page you open. Tsenta submits only on supported employer systems.
- You send a few applications a week. If finishing each form isn't a burden, an extension may be all you need.
Using Tsenta from your browser
Tsenta's own Chrome extension is not an autofill tool. On a job page it sends the role to Tsenta, and Tsenta does the application in its cloud.
- Install the extension and sign in to the dashboard.
- Open a job on LinkedIn, Indeed or an employer's career page.
- Click Apply now.
- Follow the application in your tracker.
Frequently asked questions
Is Tsenta an autofill tool?
No. Tsenta is an agent that completes and submits the application on the employer's system. Its Chrome extension sends a job to your account. It does not type into the form in your tab.
Can I still check what Tsenta sends?
Yes. Turn off résumé auto-approval to approve each tailored résumé, and turn on Review before submit to check filled forms on employer systems that support pausing. Every application also has a record of what was sent.
Does Tsenta work on every job site?
No. It submits on 30+ supported employer systems, including Workday, Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby. On other sites, apply directly and add the role to your Tsenta tracker.
When is an autofill extension the better choice?
When you want to fill every form yourself, when most of your roles are on sites Tsenta can't submit on, or when you only send a few applications a week and don't mind finishing each one.
